Partscounter Commercial Kitchens

An ecommerce experience tailored to frazzled restaurateurs.

When you run a commercial kitchen, there’s nothing more stressful than an equipment failure. And while replacing a faulty part may be easy, getting the part can be anything but. Partscounter is here to help.

It all started in the humble parts department of Clark Service Group, a regional supplier of commercial kitchen equipment. While Clark’s business focuses on equipment sales and service, their back-room parts counter was earning loyal fans for their friendly service and fast fulfillment. Eventually, parts sales grew enough to warrant an online option, so Clark Service Group asked us to help launch Partscounter as an ecommerce site.

Visually, Partscounter wanted to strike a balance between efficiency and warmth. We developed a badge-style logo, used textural elements and retro colors, and brought in photography that felt real, not overly polished.

Find that gasket without blowing one.

Unfortunately, most site visitors arrive already frustrated. Some piece of critical equipment has broken down—and they need it fixed yesterday. So we designed the site’s UX to help them find that part as fast as possible. That’s why a big, inviting search bar dominates the ecommerce navigation.

We also leaned on SEO to help position Partscounter for their audience, deploying tactics (like including digital parts manuals) to establish them as a discoverable, helpful resource for contractors and restaurant owners.

The ecommerce site was built with a custom theme on Shopify CLI 3.0, and leverages metaobjects and metafields to help the Partscounter team continue to build out flexible, informative product pages.
