By default, WordPress comes with two common post types: Posts and Pages. Default “Posts” are most often used for blogs or newsrooms, and Pages are the standard pages you would visit on a website (e.g., Home, About, Contact, etc). Ultimately, these are two unique groups to help organize content on a website.
To keep the WordPress dashboard organized and usable for clients, we might extend these groups with a Custom Post Type (CPT). This allows a grouping of specific content to be found, and it allows editing in a specific section of the WordPress dashboard. We most often use CPTs for things like job listings, team bios, case studies, and products.
